DANGEROUS / RESTRICTED DOGS UPDATE
As you are aware, there has been quite abit in the news regarding dangerous / restricted dogs and the new regulations pertaining to them. This update deals with the requirements of the enclosure.
The dog enclosure must -
- be lockable
- be self-closing and self-latching mechanisms
- have a minimum space of 10 square meters per dog
- have a minimum height of 1.8 meters
- be constructed of brick, concrete, timber, iron, chain mesh or weld mesh (weld mesh 50 X 50 X 4mm) or a combination of them
- ensure that children cannot fit small body parts such as hands into the enclosure, or be able to get into the enclosure by themselves

Markfi Gates has modified our dog enclosure so that it conforms with the requirements above. For example, we have removed the hand hole and replaced it with an external latch, and made the door self-closing.
The photo here shows both current and new doors. The door on the right meets the new regulations i.e. no spaces to put hands in, it is self closing, open spaces at the top and bottom minimised and, at the top of the door, a latch at 1.5m high which prevents young children from opening the door themselves.
