Fistula Camp in Uganda (23-Sep-2017)

We sponsered HADA again this year, and are very impressed with the great work they are doing. The funds were spent in Uganda and if you want to look up their website, the project can be found under HADA(Project name : Medical Training in Africa & Asia; ARF-010)

We happily sponser HADA as they are from Australia, there are no admin fees (other than bank fees) and the doctors, nurses and other volunteers do not get paid. In fact, they pay their own way i.e. air flights, acommodation and they often bring along medical supplies which they have either received as donations or purchased themselves.

Bloody good... if I can say so myself...   😊  😊 😊

Kagonda Hospital - Uganda

Below is the e-mail (dated 19 Sept 2017) we received from HADA after their trip to Uganda

Hello friends,

We have just returned from our latest surgical camp at Kagando Hospital, Uganda. Thanks to your generosity, the camp was a resounding success. We screened 122 women, performed 96 prolapse and fistula operations, and treated several others with medications and pessaries. In total we spent approximately AUD$40,000 on patient surgeries, transport costs and food. (Our transport, accomodation and food was self funded) We were also able to provide some training for a local surgeon who attended the camp.

As always, the patients were extremely grateful for your support.

We are now planning to return to Kagando in February next year, and also do a prolapse camp in nearby Kasese with Dr Abraham - the local doctor who has just finished his Gynaecology training - again thanks to your support.

Kind regards,

Judith Goh, Hannah Krause, Barbara Hall, Jackie Smalldridge and John Taylor
